We provide emergency mental health services for adults 18 and older who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, including a risk of harm to themselves or others, significant emotional or behavioral changes or symptoms of impending or active withdrawal.

Mental Health Emergencies Treated

Just like medical emergencies, mental health emergencies can happen quickly and unexpectedly. Emergency psychiatric care may be needed when a person’s condition requires inpatient treatment to protect their health and safety.

Situations we treat may include:

• Suicidal or homicidal thoughts, plans or gestures
• Ongoing self-destructive behaviors, including substance use, that pose a significant or immediate threat to life, limb or bodily function
• Self-harm or threats of self-harm
• Assaultive or threatening behaviors or verbal threats that puts others' safety at risk
• Hallucinations that direct a person to harm themselves or others
• New or worsening disorganized or agitated behavior that interferes with daily activities
• Disorientation or memory loss caused by an acute mental health disorder that puts the oneself or others at risk
• A mental health disorder that significantly impairs a person’s ability to care for themselves or function safely, resulting in dangerous or potentially life-threatening circumstances.
• Imminent or active withdrawal symptoms that require 24-hour medical monitoring and intervention to reduce the risk of medical complications, such as tremors, confusion or gastrointestinal disturbances.

What to Expect During Admission

Check In

Upon arrival, our team will welcome you, help you feel comfortable and collect the basic information needed to begin your care, including identification, demographic and health insurance information, if applicable.

Vital Signs

Next, our team will check your vital signs, including your temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure and pain level. If your vital signs are within safe guidelines, we’ll proceed with a mental health assessment.*

*If your vital signs indicate a medical condition that requires immediate attention, you’ll be transferred to a local emergency department for evaluation and treatment. Once medically stabilized, you or your loved one may return to our facility to complete the mental health assessment.

Assessment

Effective mental health care, including emergency psychiatric care, starts with a confidential assessment. During this assessment, a member of our experienced, licensed team will discuss your physical, mental, social and emotional health history to better understand your needs, concerns and reason for seeking care.

The information you provide helps our team determine the most appropriate level of care and support for you. If you wish, you may also have a family member or friend accompany you and participate in the assessment. Sharing complete and accurate information during this assessment allows our team to better understand your needs and connect you with the best care.

Treatment Plan

Once your assessment is complete, our medical and clinical team will review your needs and recommend the level of care that best supports your safety and well-being. If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, treatment may begin right away.

We offer a range of programs, from inpatient mental health stabilization and 24-hour addiction treatment to outpatient programs of varying lengths. Our goal is to help stabilize your mental health, identify the underlying concerns affecting your well-being and build healthy coping skills to support your continued recovery.

As you complete treatment, we’ll connect you with appropriate continuing care and community resources to support your ongoing journey and well-being.
