Detox Program
Medically Supervised Detox for Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Alcohol and drug addiction are serious medical conditions that can affect anyone. Also known as substance use disorder, addiction does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, employment status or financial circumstances. Its effects often extend beyond the individual, impacting family members, friends and loved ones as well.
When you enter treatment at Brentwood Behavioral Health, your health, safety and comfort are our top priorities. Our clinical team will evaluate your physical and emotional needs, monitor your progress throughout withdrawal and provide appropriate medical support. Medication-assisted treatment may be recommended to help reduce withdrawal symptoms and manage cravings when clinically appropriate.
Our medically supervised detox programs are designed to support healing on both a physical and emotional level. Through integrated care, we help your body safely adjust to life without substances while providing the tools and support needed to begin building healthy coping strategies for long-term recovery.
What to Expect During Detox
Every recovery journey is unique. That's why your treatment team will develop a personalized plan tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Detoxification is the first step in recovery and focuses on helping you safely stop using alcohol or drugs while achieving medical stability. Depending on the substances you've been using and the severity of your symptoms, medications may be used to ease withdrawal and reduce cravings. Throughout the detox process, you'll receive inpatient care and continuous monitoring from our medical professionals to help ensure your safety and well-being.
The length of detox varies from person to person and is influenced by several factors, including the type of substance used, medical history and withdrawal symptoms. While every experience is different, individuals withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines such as Xanax,® Valium® or Ativan® may require a longer detox period, often lasting up to ten days.
As your condition stabilizes, you'll begin participating in therapeutic services designed to support your recovery. Treatment options may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based practices and motivational enhancement techniques. These evidence-based clinical approaches help individuals identify harmful thought patterns and behaviors while developing healthier ways to manage stress and challenges.
Peer support is also an important part of the recovery process. You'll have opportunities to connect with others through support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). In addition, holistic therapies such as art, music and yoga may be incorporated into your treatment experience to promote overall wellness and healing.
Following detox and inpatient substance use treatment, you may transition to one of our outpatient programs for continued support. These programs focus on relapse prevention, life skills development, health education and strategies that help individuals maintain lasting sobriety while successfully navigating everyday responsibilities.
Treating Co-Occurring Disorders
Many individuals living with substance use disorders also experience mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders or other behavioral health challenges. Throughout your assessment and treatment, our clinical team will comprehensively evaluate and address all aspects of your mental and emotional well-being.
In some cases, mental health concerns may contribute to substance use, while in others, substance use may worsen existing mental health symptoms. Regardless of the underlying cause, our goal is to provide care that treats the whole person, supporting both recovery and overall wellness.
Getting Started with Detox Treatment
Brentwood Behavioral Health is committed to removing barriers that may stand in the way of recovery, whether those challenges are financial, physical, emotional or logistic.
The first step is a confidential, no-obligation assessment. Assessments can be scheduled 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phone. Walk-in appointments are also always welcome.
During your assessment, our team will gather information about your medical history, substance use history, current symptoms and personal circumstances. This information allows us to gain a full understanding of your needs and create an individualized treatment recommendation. A physician will review your assessment as part of the admissions process.
Based on the results of your evaluation, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your physical, emotional and social needs. Depending on your situation, recommendations may include detox services, inpatient or outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, medication management, behavioral therapies and experiential or activity-based therapies designed to support long-term recovery.
